ISO 16345:2014 covers the scope of the updraft presentation and pumping head of open- and closed-circuit, mechanical draft, wet and wet/dry cooling towers and ordinary draft and fan-assisted ordinary draft. The standard rating boundaries for cataloguing mechanical draft, open- and closed-circuit cooling towers are recognized.

ISO 16345:2014 does not support to the investigation and rating of closed-circuit towers where the process fluid run through an alteration in phase as it authorities through the heat exchanger or where the thermo physical stuffs of the technique fluid are not left behind.
